WASTEA is a new generation, circular, bio-based leather alternative made from end of life-cycle Camellia tea waste

50%-95% bio-based – currently the highest proportion on the market. Fabric’s polyurethane content is bio polyurethane as well.

Provides the same mechanical performances and aesthetics as real and faux leather. Durable, flexible, and breathable.

Tested against a number of specifications. Additional test reports from third-party companies – SGS or INTERTEK can be provided upon request

Sustainable Camellia Plant

Turkey is the fourth-largest tea producer in the world and  90% of which is consumed domestically. Tea can be harvested up to four times a year. WASTEA has a long-term partnership with Çaykur, Turkey’s largest tea producer, ensuring an unlimited supply of tea waste.

WASTEA production facility is located just 20 km from the tea waste collection sites to help address environmental challenges.

Unlimited Source

Camellia tea waste, sourced from tea plants grown in Turkey. The plant requires no additional watering throughout its entire lifecycle, because of the geographical conditions of the Black Sea region of Turkey. It requires no chemicals or pesticides because of the high altitudes at which it grows. The tea waste derivatives come pre-dried, so no additional drying energy is needed before processing.

USEAGE AREAS

WASTEA can be used in a wide range of applications. By combining the most suitable base fabric with an upper layer containing a high percentage of plant or bio-based content, it is ideal for upholstery, furniture, decorative materials, and more.
